Le javelot est un jeu traditionnel qui se joue dans la région Nord-Pas-de-Calais, les Flandres en Belgique et un peu dans la Somme. Il n'est pas répandu dans toute la France.

C'est un jeu d'origine Espagnole. On y jouait autrefois lors des foires et dans la rue.

Le javelot est un objet formé d'une pointe d'acier et de plumes de dindon blanches ou teintées.

Les plumes servent à équilibrer le javelot quand il est lancé. On le tient dans le creux de la main et on le lance sur une cible en bois appelée le "blot".

La cible est composée d'un petit cercle blanc qui se trouve à 75 cm du sol et il est entouré d'un plus grand cercle.

Le "javeloteux" doit se mettre à 8 mètres de la cible pour lancer. Si le javelot se plante dans la petite cible, on marque deux points ; s'il se fiche dans le plus grand cercle, il rapporte un point.

On met du talc sur les mains pour que cela glisse mieux.

Le club de Sallaumines s'appelle "Les Remplumés" car quand les plumes du javelot sont abîmées, on doit le remplumer (remettre de nouvelles plumes).

Le club compte 48 membres âgés de 15 à 82 ans. Il a été fondé en 1962.

The "javelot" is a traditionnal game that is usually played in our region, the Nord-Pas-de-Calais, in Flanders in Belgium, and in some places in the department of the Somme. It is not widespread in other regions of France.

This game has Spanish origins. People used to play it during the fairs and in the streets.

The "javelot" is made of a steel head and white or tinted turkey feathers.

The feathers are useful for equilibrating the javelin when it is thrown away. The player holds it in his hand and throws it to a wooden target called the "blot".

The target consists of two circles : a small one which hangs 75 cm from the ground and is surrounded by a bigger one.

The "javeloteux" (the javelin player) stands eight meters away from the target. If the javelin comes and fixes in the small circle, the player gets two points ; if in the bigger circle, only one point.

The player sprinkles his hand with talcum powder for a better slippy javelin.

Sallaumines 's Javelot club is called the "Les Remplumés" (who got a new plumage) because when the javelin feathers are damaged, players need to give it new feathers.

In the club there are 48 members of them, aged from 15 to 82. The club has been founded in 1962.
